Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held a telephone conversation with Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi on Wednesday, December 31. During the call, the two Ministers discussed President Lee Jae Myung’s state visit to China scheduled for January 4-7, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Over the phone on the final day of 2025, the two Ministers noted with appreciation this year’s trajectory of ROK-China relations and agreed to maintain close communication to ensure the success of the upcoming state visit, which will mark the first state-level summit diplomacy of the new year for both countries. In particular the two sides agreed to consolidate the momentum for the full restoration of the “ROK–China Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and make thorough preparations to achieve concrete and substantive outcomes that can be tangibly felt by the peoples of both countries.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia and agreed to continue efforts to promote regional stability and prosperity.
